Summary
Transcribe Here is designed to keep recordings and transcripts private. Transcribe Here does not require an account and does not collect personal data, analytics, diagnostics, advertising identifiers, recordings, or transcripts. Transcribe Here does not track users across apps or websites and contains no advertising.
Model downloads
Whisper Tiny is included with Transcribe Here. When you explicitly choose another speech model, Transcribe Here connects to Hugging Face or its content-delivery provider to download that model file. Transcribe Here does not automatically download optional models during an app update. The request may reveal standard network information such as your IP address to the download provider. It contains no recording, transcript, recording title, selected language, account identifier, or analytics data. Transcribe Here checks the downloaded file's expected size and SHA-256 digest on the device and loads it locally before making it available. Cancelled, interrupted, or invalid partial downloads are removed and cannot be used for transcription. The bundled Tiny model remains available without a network connection.
Microphone and transcription
Transcribe Here accesses the microphone only when you choose to record. Speech transcription runs locally on the device. Transcribe Here does not send recordings or transcripts to the developer or to an external transcription service. Microphone access can be revoked at any time in system settings. Transcribe Here cannot make new recordings without this permission.
Storage and deletion
Recordings, transcripts, and app settings are stored locally in Transcribe Here's app container. Transcribe Here also uses an Apple App Group on the same device to pass audio you share into the app and to give its widget a small display snapshot of recent recording identifiers, titles, durations, and dates. This App Group is not cloud synchronization and does not give the developer access to the data. The widget does not read audio or transcript content. Depending on your Apple backup settings, local app data may be included in device backups managed by Apple. Optional model files are replaceable downloads stored separately from recordings and transcripts and are excluded from backup. On a new or restored device, Transcribe Here keeps your historical transcript information and falls back to bundled Tiny until you choose to download an optional model again. Deleted recordings remain in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days unless you permanently delete them sooner. Removing Transcribe Here deletes its local app data, subject to any copies retained in backups controlled by you and Apple.
Optional Local Pro iCloud sync
Local Pro customers may explicitly enable synchronization for each device. When enabled, Transcribe Here stores the recording aggregate — recording metadata, app-owned audio, transcripts, selection, deletion state, and sync state — only in your private CloudKit database in your iCloud account. Transcribe Here does not provide the developer access to this database and does not add another cloud provider. You may pause sync per device or use the confirmed in-app control to delete Transcribe Here data from iCloud; deleting cloud data does not delete the local library on the current device.
Sharing
Transcribe Here shares a recording or transcript only when you select a destination through the system share interface. The selected destination handles that copy under its own privacy practices. When you share an audio file into Transcribe Here from another app, the share extension stages that file locally in the App Group for import by the main app. The extension does not upload it or make a network request. Transcribe Here removes the staged copy after durable import or after rejecting invalid content; an item that cannot yet be imported because of the active quota remains local so you can complete the import later. The iOS widget, Control Center control, deep links, and Shortcuts are launch surfaces. Recording and transcription remain in the main app process, and local transcription continues to run on device.
Support communications
When you choose Send Feedback, Transcribe Here asks your selected email app to open an editable message addressed to kai_natori@icloud.com. Transcribe Here supplies only a subject containing the public app version and platform. It does not add a message body, recording, transcript, title, attachment, log, diagnostic, or identifier. Opening the email app sends nothing, and Transcribe Here stores no draft, open result, or delivery result. If you affirmatively send the message, the selected email provider transmits the content you reviewed. Transcribe Here Support then receives and may retain the sender address, message contents, and any information you voluntarily include, solely to respond to and manage the support request. The email provider handles transmission under its own privacy practices.
App Store reviews
When you choose Write a Review, Transcribe Here opens Apple's App Store product page. Transcribe Here sends no recording, transcript, or analytics content and does not record whether the page loaded or you submitted a review. Apple receives ordinary connection information under Apple's privacy practices.
This website
The Transcribe Here website does not use Google Analytics and sets no tracking cookies. It may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-preserving measurement of aggregate page traffic operated by our hosting provider. This website measurement is separate from the app: the app itself contains no analytics and sends no usage data to anyone.
Sale and disclosure of information
Transcribe Here does not sell personal information. Because the app does not collect app usage data, recordings, or transcripts, the developer does not disclose such data to third parties.
Children
Transcribe Here does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app's local recording and transcription behavior is the same for all users.
Changes to this policy
If Transcribe Here's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the relevant app version is released. The effective date at the top of this page will also be updated.
